English and Maths Support for Apprentices
As part of an apprenticeship, learners may be required to develop their English and maths skills to support successful completion of their programme. This will depend on their prior qualifications and the requirements of the apprenticeship standard. At The Apprenticeship College, we ensure this process is supportive, flexible and tailored to each individual.
Our dedicated Learning Support Team works closely with every learner who needs to develop their English and maths skills. Whether someone is at the beginning of their career or already established in their role and looking to refresh or “dust off” their knowledge, we provide the guidance and encouragement needed to build confidence and capability.
We begin with an initial assessment to understand each learner’s current level, strengths and areas for development. From this, we create a personalised learning plan that fits around their role and responsibilities. Our approach is designed to integrate learning into everyday working life, helping individuals apply their skills in practical, meaningful ways that support both their apprenticeship and their wider role within the organisation.
Learning is delivered flexibly, with a combination of structured support, interactive resources and opportunities to practise and embed skills over time. We recognise that English and maths can feel like a barrier for some learners, so our focus is on creating a positive and accessible experience that builds confidence step by step.
Importantly, no learner is turned away based on their starting point. We are committed to supporting individuals to reach the level they need, at a pace that works for them. Our goal is not just to meet apprenticeship requirements, but to equip learners with essential skills that enhance their performance, support career progression and add long-term value to both the individual and their organisation, both now and in the future.
