You Have the Data… So Why Is It Still So Hard to Use?
April 18, 2026 1:35 pmData is everywhere… so why does it still feel so hard to use?
Most people don’t struggle with data because they don’t understand it.
They struggle because they’re surrounded by it, but not always sure what to do next.
A spreadsheet full of numbers.
A dashboard that looks impressive… but doesn’t quite answer the question.
Reports that exist, but don’t always lead to action.
If that sounds familiar, you’re not behind.
You’re already thinking like a data analyst.
We’re living in a world built on data
In the UK alone, almost 98% of people are now online .
Every click, interaction, transaction and decision leaves a trace.
And businesses are paying attention:
- Around 73% of organisations now say data analytics is a top priority
- Around 80% of companies have already integrated data analytics into their operations
- And closer to home, 77% of UK businesses say they handle digitised data
So data isn’t the future.
It’s already shaping how organisations make decisions every single day.
But here’s the reality no one really talks about
Having data is one thing.
Using it well is something else entirely.
A lot of people work with data in their role:
- tracking performance
- updating systems
- pulling reports
But very few people are supported to step back and ask:
- What is this actually telling us?
- What’s changed?
- What should we do next?
That gap, between having data and understanding it, is where data analysts live.
Being a data analyst isn’t what most people think
It’s not just about:
- coding all day
- being “good at maths”
- or knowing every tool
It’s about thinking differently.
It’s about curiosity.
It’s noticing something small and asking:
“That’s interesting… why is that happening?”
It’s being the person in the room who can say:
“Here’s what the data actually shows… and here’s what we should do about it.”
And more often than not, it starts with people who are already working with data in some way, just not calling themselves analysts yet.
You might already be closer than you think
If you’ve ever:
- spotted a pattern in a report
- questioned why something changed
- tried to make sense of messy data
- or felt like there’s more we could be doing with this
Then you’re already on that path.
You don’t need to start from scratch.
You just need to build confidence in how you think about data.
That’s where the Data Analyst Apprenticeship comes in
This isn’t about overwhelming you with technical theory.
It’s about helping you:
- understand how data is used in real roles
- build confidence in asking the right questions
- see how your current experience connects to data analysis
- start thinking more analytically in your day-to-day work
It’s a starting point.
A space to explore, ask questions, and begin to see data differently.
And you don’t need to have it all figured out
Most people don’t.
The people who go on to become great analysts don’t start out knowing everything.
They start out being curious.
They start out asking questions.
They start out wanting to make things clearer, simpler, better.
So if this sounds like you…
If you’ve ever looked at a report and thought:
“There’s more in here we’re not using”
Then this is for you.
Join us for the next Data Analyst Induction and take that first step, not into something completely new, but into something you might already be closer to than you think.
