When the Apprenticeship Levy was introduced in 2017 The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) were in a situation, like many employers, where they wanted to make the most of their levy payments.

Whilst wanting to utilise their levy pot it was important that they had access to the best possible apprenticeship training for their workforce which covers many different disciplines.

It was vital to the Learning and Development team at the council that finding a provider they could work in partnership with and trust to advise on the apprenticeship levy, workforce development and suitability of programmes would be key to the success of their apprenticeship delivery.

The Apprenticeship College were successful in their tender for delivering training across a number of apprenticeship standards, and are delighted to continue working with RBKC and having the opportunity to develop their people.

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea are a London Borough and so the roles of their workforce is diverse. The team work across a number of disciplines and range from senior leaders to more junior, new employees. Based in the heart of London just a couple of stops away from The Apprenticeship College.

We are delighted to have continued working with RBKC since 2017 and work in partnership with their Learning and Development Team.

The focus to ensure all learners are informed, supported and enrolling onto a programme that is beneficial to their career development. The Apprenticeship College and RBCK deliver planned information sessions for any potential learner and their line manager to provide detail on the programmes we offer, the benefit of that to their role, and what they will achieve from taking part.

To date we have delivered a number of programmes for both new and existing staff members, these include:

Project Management

Team Leading

Operations and Department Manager

Business Administration

We continue to enrol learners from the council across a variety of programmes and are looking forward to the next enrolments starting in September 2020! We continue to work in partnership and offer advice and guidance around the apprenticeship levy in general, our programmes and how we can continue to support the council.

“Well done you and your whole team to have adapted so quickly and to receive such positive feedback. I will definitely recommend you to other employers (I already do so)” – Fabiola Palmero (Learning and Operations Consultant)
