Our Management Development Apprenticeship (Level 5) is an new work-based route used by employers to train staff in a variety of roles including:
- Middle managers
- Managers of larger teams
- Departmental managers
- Divisional managers
- Regional managers
- Store managers
Equally applicable in any number managerial roles in all sectors.

Skills Coaching
Each of your apprentices is guided and mentored through the whole programme by their Skills Coach. Find out more about how this works.
End Point Assessment (EPA)
This programme is continually assessed by our Tutors and Skills Coaches throughout. The final End Point Assessment (EPA) requires candidates to give a presentation to an assessment panel and answer questions on their work, and the completion of a work-based research project.

Masterclasses
Inspirational Leadership
What makes an inspirational leader and what impact can inspirational leadership have on the business and our organisational strategy? Our guest speaker provides insights and motivation.
HR Presentation
This will be delivered as either a Masterclass, Online Workshop or Webinar and will cover organisational culture, equality and diversity, policies and procedures, and HR Legislation.
Technical Workshops
Induction
The induction is an opportunity to complete the formal enrolment paperwork, demonstrate the online learning environment, take learners through the programme in detail giving an overview of each masterclass and workshop. Participants meet with the Skills Coach that will be supporting them throughout the programme and will begin their development journey by understanding and exploring learning styles.
Developing Your Role as a Manager
This workshop will cover setting personal objectives and creating a personal development plan. It will cover leadership styles and personal effectiveness in the workplace, including aspects of time management.
Project Development and Control
This workshop focuses on the skills required to manage projects. Exploring how to manage resources, planning the project, how to allocate tasks, and understanding how to identify risks and issues. This workshop also introduces practical tools like GANTT and PERT charts and will talk learners through the project they will need to complete to receive their Level 5 Certificate.
Managing Individual and Team Performance
This workshop explores organisational objectives, how to create a positive work environment and developing working relationships. It also looks at understanding and utilising key policies and procedures around managing a team, including sickness, welfare & absence management, plus how to manage remote workers and multiple teams.
End Point Assessment Project
This workshop will give learners an opportunity to explore their project ideas for their end point assessment, with their peers and coach and begin planning their project objectives using the skills and content covered in the Project Development Workshop. The half-day will be followed up by a 1:1 session with their coach to discuss and agree their ideas.
Operational Management
This workshop will cover approaches on how to create department and business plans to deliver objectives, setting KPIs, how to drive continuous improvement, understanding and using management systems, how to manage data securely, how to be fully commercially aware and finally producing reports and providing management information to the rest of the business.
Delegation
This workshop focuses on how to delegate and enable delivery through others in the team. This workshop will be followed by a chance for learners to catch up as a group to discuss the progress they are making with their end point assessment project and receive peer and tutor feedback.
Managing & Developing Talent
This workshop will cover how to recruit people, how to manage talent and performance, how to develop, build and motivate teams and how to effectively delegate to provide continuous development within the team, ensuring this is managed in a fair and inclusive way.
Managing Performance & Appraisals: Part One
This workshop will focus on how to deliver positive and developmental feedback, coaching & mentoring, and how to conduct an appraisal/performance review. This session will include tips on asking the right questions.
Change Management & Project Presentation
This workshop focuses on how to initiate and manage change, identifying barriers and how to overcome these. In the afternoon, each learner will have time to formally present their end point assessment presentation to their coach and peers prior to final submission.
Information Based Decision Making
This workshop focuses on the ability to solve problems and make decisions in both technical and people-based scenarios. It will explore a variety of approaches and will look at the impact of applying different techniques to help learners meet challenges constructively and productively, and on how to draw conclusions and analyse data to help make decisions. We cover how to ensure data is valid, reliable and relevant. Finally, the workshop will look at how managers present information and communicate business decisions in the most effective way.
Financial Management
This workshop covers financial systems and controlling them, how to understand P&L reports, balance sheets and financial statements. We will also look at budgetary processes and frameworks and the variables between different organisations and how to monitor, control and evaluate them.
